Standardised GP Appointment Categories (GPAD)

The GP Appointments Data (GPAD) programme has investigated the most appropriate way to align practice activity data through standardisation of national appointment categories in General Practice, including Primary Care Networks (PCNs).

  • EMIS & TPP have been working with NHS England to ensure that PCN and Federation data is including in the GP Appointment Data (GPAD) weekly extract. EMIS was enabled from 20th March 2023.
  • To enable the automatic collection of data from EMIS and SystmOne Hubs, NHS England request that you complete this permission form: GP appointments data (GPAD) - PCN Participation. If you have any questions, please contact primarycare.domain@nhs.net.
  • Reminder: The National Slot Mapping functionality in EMIS Web allows you to map local appointment slot types to national categories to improve the quality of GPAD reporting. You can find a step-by-step guide on EMIS Now.
