Viewing Docman Files (.XX2) on EMIS Clinical Services

When opening a Docman file on a patients record in EMIS Clinical Services, clinicians may get a message similar to the following:



Option 1 - Purchase and activate Docman Share

This will consist of the following:


  1. Docman Share Licence  (cost per registered patient)
  2. Emis Clinical Services API (per PCN Hub)
  3. Emis activation (per practice)
  4. Professional Services day


Option 2 Download and install XX2 Viewer



Important - check with your IT Services Department first before installing this application.


The .XX2 viewer was developed by Docman to enable clinicians to view a Docman file on a Shared Record.


Download the Setup.exe to your device (bottom of this page)

Run setup.exe

If you get the Don't run window select More Info:



Select Run anyway:


Option 3 - Download and rename file extension


Open the Docman file (you will see the message at the beginning of this page).  Select Export in the right hand corner:



Browse to a folder on your local device (i.e. Desktop) and click on OK.


Close the Window above.


On the local device navigate to the Docman file where you exported it to.  It will end with a file extension of .XX2:



Rename the file by replacing the .XX2 with .TIF (say Yes to message):



Double click on the file to open.  It will open in Windows Photo Viewer:
