New/Existing organisations access to NHS Spine Services

Any organisation that wishes to provide clinical services and have links to the NHS Spine will need to complete some or all of the steps below:

• Set up Smartcard Profiles - must be completed via a Registration Authority - https://digital.nhs.uk/services/care-identity-service/primary-care-service-provider-contact-details
• If Prescribing then a Prescribing Cost Centre Code will need to be obtained (via the organisations ICB) - https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/sicbls-icbs-and-other-providers/organisation-and-prescriber-changes/independent-sector-healthcare-providers
• If using GP Connect - sign the National Data Sharing Agreement - https://apply.ndsp.gpconnect.nhs.uk/

• Register for EDI Codes to set up Pathology links with NHS Trust Labs - https://digital.nhs.uk/services/networking-addressing/register-edi-codes
• If using NHS e-Referral Services, organisation will need a contract agreed by one or more NHS Commissioner (i.e. ICB) for each service they want to set up on the NHS e-Referral Service - https://digital.nhs.uk/services/e-referral-service/web-based-e-referral-service-onboarding

GP Connect will enable private and independent Healthcare organisations to 'trace' patients from the NHS Spine within their EPR system (EMIS Web, SystmOne) which will allow them to:

• View patients NHS Numbers and other demographic details
• View patients GP Record (HTML View)
